Türker Art hosts Emre Tandırlı’s latest solo exhibition titled as “Mega Dream” between March 7 – April 6 2013.
Emre Tandırlı’s paintings focus on the complex and dense structure of the city of Istanbul in his distinctive way of poetic and romantic aesthetics.
In his latest works, you can observe up-to-date views of continuous motions of the mega city where he lives in and which he expresses in a charming and dreamy atmosphere.
As he describes; “Intense and dynamic stacking of the unplanned and complex city structure has become the main aesthetic element in his paintings.”
Witness the alternative and imaginary views of the city of Istanbul through Emre Tandırlı’s canvasses, in his latest solo exhibition “Mega Dream” that will be held at Türker Art.
In quote of the artist;
In my last paintings, I prefer to convey the imaginary and mystic landscapes of mega city behind the visible and routine face in which I live with rich, vibrant colors and fine details for the purpose of creating intensive feelings in the audience. I aim to bring the picturesque and poetical aspects of city appearances where we live and the thing that is unique for ourselves aesthetically and culturally into the forefront by adopting the new romantic approach and traditional standing in current art environments. I aim to control the accidental results of oil painting on canvas within the framework of this new romantic approach and traditional standing that I mentioned above in rich and expressive integrity. I try to transform the definite power of art emerged as a practical method and take the audiences into realistic landscapes of mega dreams that may be read over imaginary Istanbul appearances with a new and personal tone by means of canvas painting that has been used for centuries and city landscapes mentioned.
“Landscape image is the source of pleasant sensations but art work turns towards our feelings in a deeper way than merely landscape image by conveying this landscape in an expressive way.”[1] Although these complex and intensive Istanbul landscapes that became mega city do not always confront us as pleasant landscapes, I try to illustrate a kind of passion and love reflected on these landscapes by means of my paintings. As stated by Kenneth Clark; “the artist who is bringing the passion and love to the landscapes he sees reveals the mystery of the world in his work with a huge reality with his unique humanistic sensibility.”[2]
On the other hand, I set out the idea of a type of ideal beauty search within the framework of Plato approach by creating this city image that is completely specific for us and we highly know within city routine on canvas within an alternative interpretation. Thus, artists have seen the real image in front of us as the reflection of the original for centuries, imitated this image by means of painting art and aimed to reach that ideal real image. In this regard, I try to develop the new romantic painting art perception of today with my own brush by means of these paintings in which I aimed to reveal the spiritual reflections of our internal commitment that we developed towards Istanbul’s mega city appearances.
Thus, any ordinary image may earn a huge visuality within the framework of meanings and emotions that we load on landscapes we see around. Our current urban environment may take both very important picturesque theme and the traditional practice integrity become the deepest reflection of our internality.
